The Caddo Parish Grand Jury returned true bills Wednesday, June 15, 2016, in connection with two recent homicides.

James Taylor III, 18, was indicted on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the March 30, 2016, slaying of James Carroll. Carroll, 24, was shot outside an apartment complex in Vivian after an argument with another man earlier that day.

Carlos Franklin, 36, was indicted on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the April 22, 2016 shooting of Gina Foster in west Shreveport, and on a charge of attempted second-degree murder in connection with the shooting that same day of Foster’s grandson, Syborio Foster. The two victims were shot from a passing car as they stood outside a residence in the 4100 block of Martha Street.

If convicted of the murder charges, the accused face life sentences in prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. The penalty for attempted second-degree murder is at least 10 years, up to 50 years, in prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
