To mark just-ended October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Caddo Parish District Attorney James E. Stewart Sr. and his staff collected items to help the local Project Celebration shelter for domestic violence victims. The items were delivered Friday, November 4, 2016, to Project Celebration.
Pictured with donated items in the DA’s office prior to delivery (left to right) are Leone Fitzgerald, director of the DA’s Victim Assistance Program; Assistant District Attorney Mekisha Creal; Victim Assistance Coordinator Anna Trammell; Caddo Parish DA James E. Stewart Sr.; office secretary Kim Sharp; and ADA Aaron Crawford.
Items collected ranged from personal toiletry items, cleaning supplies and paper goods to snack foods, school supplies and backpacks. These will directly benefit women and children staying in the domestic violence shelter.
Project Celebration relies heavily on donations from the public to maintain the shelter and supply residents with personal items. Many women and families come into the shelter with only the clothes on their backs.
