An elderly Shreveport man scheduled to go to trial next week on charges he sexually abused a female family member, instead pleaded guilty in Caddo District Court Friday, September 8, 2017.

James Edward Dickens, 82, pleaded guilty before Judge Katherine Dorroh to a charge of molestation of a child under the age of 13. Dickens was accused of improper sexual actions with the juvenile female relative between February 2015 and July 2016.

He was sentenced to 25 years in prison, to be served without probation, parole or reduction in sentence.

Caddo Parish Assistant District Attorneys Ron C. Stamps and Treneshia Hill prosecuted the case. Dickens was defended by Ransdell Keene .
