A Mooringsport man was convicted Thursday, February 15, 2018, in Caddo District Court for fourth driving while intoxicated, a felony.

John Paul Flores, 47, found guilty in District Judge Brady D. O’Callaghan’s courtroom, faces a $5,000 fine and a prison term of at least 10 and up to 30 years.

Assistant district attorneys Kodie Smith and Senae D. Hall prosecuted. Flores was defended by Whitley Graves.

Flores was arrested June 24, 2016, after he was found asleep in the driver’s side of his vehicle parked in front of a gas pump at Elsie’s Truck Stop in Blanchard. He was unsteady on his feet, had an odor of alcohol coming from his person, was belligerent with deputies and refused to submit to standard field sobriety test or to give a breath sample.

His prior convictions for DWI were in June 2002, November 2004 and August 2015.

Flores’ next court appearance will be March 15, 2018, for post-trial motions, with sentencing to take place at a future date to be announced.
