A former Shreveport lieutenant accused of inappropriate physical contact with female officers under his command has pleaded guilty to three counts of misdemeanor sexual battery.

Stephen Wayne Plunkett, 48, of Bossier City, allocuted before Caddo District Judge Katherine Dorroh Monday, May 14, 2018.

On each count, Plunkett was sentenced to six months in the parish jail, to run consecutively, with that time to be suspended. Plunkett was placed on six months of active supervised probation, also to run consecutively for a total of 18 months in the parish jail, suspended, with 18 months of active supervised probation.

Plunkett also must enroll in and complete a sexual offender counseling and treatment program; undergo substance abuse evaluation and treatment, if deemed necessary, and to have no contact whatsoever with the female officers involved. He also must stay away from the Shreveport Police Department complex and parking lot at 1234 Texas Avenue; not disclose the names, addresses or identities of the three women; complete an anger management program, and have no employment with law enforcement during the course of his probation.

Plunkett was hired by the Shreveport Police Department in May 1991 and was placed on paid departmental leave in December 2017. He later was allowed to retire.

The three women involved all agreed to the plea arrangement.
