A Shreveport man pleaded guilty earlier this month in Caddo District Court to an indecent act with a child.

Ezikiel Ruben, 65, of Shreveport, admitted to indecent behavior with a juvenile under age 13 Thursday, August 2, 2018. Shreveport Police Department officers arrested Ruben on June 20, 2016, following a report filed by the child victim, then 5 years old, and her mother. The child victim’s statement to authorities contained details that were confirmed in Ruben’s statement obtained by investigating Shreveport Police Department Detective Michael Jones.

Ruben will return to Caddo District Judge John D. Mosely Jr.’s court September 20, 2018, for a sentencing hearing. The charge ordinarily carries a penalty of two to 25 years at hard labor. However, both sides agreed that a sentencing cap of no greater than 20 years should be imposed by the court. As such, Ruben faces two to 20 years at hard labor, with the first two years to be served without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.

Ruben was remanded into the custody of Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Monday, August 6, 2018.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Pamela Moser and Britney Green. Ruben was defended by Larrion Hillman.
