A man charged in the death of a local man in 2014 pleaded guilty in Caddo District Court this week.

Derrick Jevonne Thomas, 23, pleaded guilty Monday, December 12, 2018, to manslaughter before District Judge Ramona Emanuel in connection with the April 11, 2014 slaying of Tyrone Youngblood, 31, following a long-simmering dispute. Thomas was sentenced to 25 years at hard labor, a sentence agreed to after consultation with the family of the victim.

Thomas was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Edwin L. Blewer III and William Gaskins. He was defended by Chris Hatch.
