A Caddo Parish jury on Thursday, March 21, 2019, found a Shreveport man guilty of a sex crime against a juvenile.

Following four days of trial, the one-man, five-woman jury unanimously determined, after one hour of deliberation, that Clay Joshua Travers, 36, committed felony carnal knowledge of a child. Shreveport Police arrested Travers on June 20, 2016, following a report filed by the victim and her mother.

The jury heard testimony from the victim’s mother, statements made by Travers, law enforcement and the victim, herself, who now is 18 years old. Evidence showed that Travers sexually assaulted the girl multiple times between 2015 and 2016.

Travers faces up to 10 years with or without hard labor when he returns to face District Judge John D. Mosely Jr. on May 2.

Assistant District Attorneys Pamela R. Moser and Treneisha J. Hill prosecuted the case. Travers was defended by Billy Casey.
