The Grand Jury of Caddo Parish returned five indictments in its session ending Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
One indictment was for manslaughter, with two charging individuals with second-degree murder. Two indictments issued under seal charged men with sex crimes.
Montrail Dewaun Horton, 39, of Shreveport, was charged with manslaughter in connection with the December 2021 death of Namon Booker. Mr. Booker, 72, died December 18, 2021, two weeks after he was beaten unconscious in a parking lot in the 2000 block of Lakeshore Drive.
Carlin Tremell Cotton, 52, of Shreveport, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the August 18, 2021 slaying of Cedric Cemoyne Fuller. Mr. Fuller, 45, was shot multiple times at a residence in the 4200 block of Baxter Street.
Jimmy Ray Cockerhem, 63, of Shreveport, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the November 22, 2021 slaying of Gary Lee. Mr. Lee, 61, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head in the yard of his home on Alda Street in the MLK neighborhood. He was shot following a longtime dispute with Mr. Cockerhem.
Donald Howard Venable, 48, of Bossier City, was charged with first-degree rape. He was booked into Caddo Correctional Center September 29, 2021.
Brett Kirkman, 52, of Shreveport, was charged with two counts of aggravated rape, five counts of oral sexual battery and seven counts of molestation of a juvenile. He was booked into CCC November 2, 2021.
The Grand Jury no-billed Donavyn Simpson, Larrion Hawkins, John Wayne Morgan Jr. and Patrick Stricklin in connection with the July 13, 2021 homicide of Dartreyus Wesley. Mr. Wesley, 22, was shot at least eight times in his yard near the intersection of East Algonquin Trail and Mayfair Drive in the Cherokee Park neighborhood.
Jeffery Ebarb Sr. was no-billed in connection with the January 2, 2022 death of Tony Ebarb, 16, who was shot while a passenger in a family vehicle.
The Grand Jury also no-billed Trakevin Black in the October 30, 2021 slaying of Andrean Myles. Mr. Myles, 31, was found shot several times inside a crashed vehicle near the intersection of Wallace Avenue and Corbitt Street.
The Grand Jury pretermitted Linda Estes, a target of investigation in connection with the September 30, 2021 death of Glen Estes. Mr. Estes, 66, was shot in the course of a domestic dispute.
