As part of Domestic Violence Month, the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s office and other Caddo Parish law enforcement agencies plan to kick back during October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Six teams will compete in “Kick Against Domestic Violence,” Saturday, October 22, 2022. The family fun day will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bill Cockrell Park, 4109 Pines Road. All non-competition activities are open to the general public.
Team names incorporate the word “Purple,” a reference to the color associated with domestic violence. Teams competing so far are the DA’s Special Victims Unit, named “Purple Reign”; the DA’s Child Support Section, named “Purple Mambas”; the Shreveport Police Department, “Purple Protectors J”; the Shreveport City Marshal’s office, “Purple Hearts”; and Project Celebration, “Purple Warriors.” The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office also will compete, though a team name has not yet been announced.
The Jimbeaux’s & Son food truck will be there, and there will be door prizes as well as family activities.
Sadly, the park also is the site of a tragic murder/suicide earlier this week where the victims were a 23-month-old boy and his 10-month-old sister, both kidnapped, shot and killed as the result of a domestic violence incident.
