A Greenwood man who committed a lewd act on a tender-aged neighbor child under his care pleaded guilty in Caddo District Court Monday, February 5, 2024.

District Judge John D. Mosely Jr., who was set to preside over the soon-to-commence trial of Robert E. Todd, immediately sentenced Todd, 54, to a 50-year hard labor prison sentence, with the first 25 years to be served without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. Todd also must register as a sex offender for life upon his release from prison.

The mother of the victim had asked Todd to watch her sleeping children while she ran an errand. Home surveillance video captured Todd molesting a victim who was below the age of 13.

Todd was to have been tried on a charge of first-degree rape. He pleaded guilty to a responsive charge of molestation of a juvenile under the age of 13. The family of the victim agreed to the plea and sentence.

Todd was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Courtney N. Ray. He was defended by Casey Simpson.

The case was docket No. 385609.
