A Shreveport man who forced the daughter of a dating partner to submit to a sexual attack, pleaded guilty to second-degree rape in Caddo District Court Wednesday, February 7, 2024. He pleaded just as the jury in his case before District Judge Michael Pitman was about to be selected.

On February 22, 2021, Demarcus Bradford, posing as a maintenance man at the victim’s apartment complex, broke in and threatened the woman with violence if she did not submit. A masked man was captured on video leaving the scene. Bradford, later unmasked, returned to the scene of his crime to console the victim and her mother.

DNA evidence linked Bradford, 32, to the crime. He claimed the act was consensual.

Judge Pitman will sentence Bradford to 15 years in prison at hard labor on February 14, allowing time for the victim, who now lives out of state, to return to Shreveport for the sentencing. Bradford will have to register as a sex offender for life once he is released.

Assistant District Attorneys Sam Crichton and Christopher Bowman prosecuted the case. Bradford was defended by Rickey Swift.

The case was docket No. 383177.
