A Shreveport man who shot and killed a 12-year-old reportedly breaking into his car outside his home in the 8900 block of Hawthorne Drive May 11, has been indicted by the Caddo Parish Grand Jury for manslaughter.

Kelvin Boles was picked up by police at his home earlier today, and now is in police custody. A warrant was issued for Boles’ arrest following the Grand Jury’s secret true bill indictment released yesterday.

Boles will be tried for shooting and killing Jaylen Coleman. The juvenile was shot in the head after he and several other youths reportedly were trying to break in to a car.

Coleman’s death was the 25th homicide in Shreveport this year.
