A Shreveport man who battered and seriously injured a male nurse while incarcerated at Caddo Correctional Center was sentenced to 40 years in prison Thursday, August 29, 2024.
The sentence handed out Chester Lee Johnson Jr., 32, by District Judge Ramona Emanuel must be served at hard labor without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. He will receive credit for some of the time he has been at Caddo Correctional Center for the battery.
Johnson was convicted of felony battery of a correctional facility employee August 8, 2024. On February 16, 2020, while housed at Caddo Correctional Center, Johnson battered the nurse employed by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office. The nurse went to provide medication to Johnson, who exited his dorm and began striking the nurse multiple times with a closed fist. The nurse was transported to a medical facility where he received stitches to his forehead.
Johnson was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Senae D. Hall and Victoria Washington. He was defended by Royal Alexander and Dave Knadler.
