A Shreveport man who burglarized his employer’s business and then set fire to the building was convicted of simple arson Thursday, May 8, 2025 in Caddo District Court.
The six-woman, six-man jury in District Judge Chris Victory’s court deliberated just under two hours before returning its unanimous guilty-as-charged verdict against Cross McCray, 23. Jurors heard testimony from the manager of the shop in the 4100 block of Curtis Lane, a S Shreveport Fire investigator and a Shreveport Police fingerprint expert. The jury also heard from McCray’s father, who testified on his behalf.
On December 20, 2022, McCray caused a fire when he burglarized his place of employment, jurors determined. Before leaving in a stolen vehicle, he went back into the building and set it on fire. The fire caused extensive damages resulting in more thanĀ $500 in damages.
When McCray returns to Judge Victory’s court for sentencing June 17, 2025, he faces a fine of up to $15,000 and up to 15 years in prison at hard labor.
Assistant District Attorneys Briana C. Spivey and Courtney N. Ray prosecuted McCray. He was defended by Michael Enright and Silver Sanders.

The case was docket No. 399445.
