The just-released Louisiana Supreme Court Annual Report for 2024 shows that Caddo Parish had an impressive number of criminal trials conducted in 2024.
Using information supplied by the Clerk of Court in each of the state's 64 parishes, the report shows that Caddo, the state's sixth-largest parish in terms of population, conducted 60 criminal trials.
Of these, 41 defendants were found guilty as charged, seven were found guilty of lesser charges, seven pleaded guilty after their jury was sworn in, three resulted in a hung jury or mistrial, and two resulted in not guilty verdicts. That represents a 92 percent conviction rate.
The report also showed that the state’s fifth and seventh largest parishes each conducted nine criminal jury trials in 2024.
Information used to compile the report was provided by the Clerk of Court of each parish.
