Deontae Horton pleads guilty to attempted murder

A Shreveport man who shot his victim during the course of a robbery pleaded guilty in Caddo District Court late last month and was sentenced to serve 15 year in prison.

Deontae Horton, 22, pleaded guilty August 27, 2025, before District Judge Ramona Emanuel to the charge of attempted second-degree murder with regard to the shooting that occurred October 9, 2023, in the 1700 block of Alma Street. During the robbery Horton fired a shot that struck the victim in his back. 


The sentence must be served at hard labor with credit for time served.


Horton was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Fernando Grider Jr. He was defended by Leslie Kelly.
