Edduin Silva found guilty of murder

A man accused of gunning down a female acquaintance three years ago was convicted in Caddo District Court Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

The six-man, six-woman jury in District Judge Chris Victory's court spent less than 15 minutes deliberating before returning its guilty-as-charged verdict against Edduin Silva, 22, of Shreveport. He was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the April 26, 2023 slaying of Amaya Jacobs. Ms. Jacobs, 35, was shot multiple times in the face as she drove near Fairfax Avenue and Morningside Drive in the Caddo Heights neighborhood.

Silva fired his .22 caliber AR-style rifle 13 times, striking Ms. Jacobs with multiple rounds. Surveillance video showed Silva, who admitted to police that he shot the victim,  pacing up and down in front of his house armed with the rifle moments before the shooting. Jurors heard evidence from Shreveport Police officers, crime scene investigators and several experts before retiring to deliberate.

When Silva returns to Judge Victory's court for sentencing July 27, 2026, he faces a mandatory life term at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

Silva was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Victoria Washington and Courtney N. Ray. He was defended by Leslie Kelly.
