Ester to serve 15 years for armed robbery

A Shreveport man who pleaded guilty to armed robbery in September was sentenced Thursday, November 5, 2026, to serve 15 years at hard labor in prison for his crime.
Caddo District Court Judge Donald E. Hathaway Jr. ordered that Cortavion Ester, 17, serve the hard time for his part in the November 7, 2025 robbery of a 62-year-old woman as she walked to her Millicent Way apartment. Ester pleaded guilty to the crime September 14, 2026.
The day of the robbery, Ester and others were driving in the Millicent Way area when their vehicle had a flat tire. Ester and another male went to the nearby apartment complex, where the victim lived. After she parked her vehicle and walked to her door, Ester and the other individual went up to her, demanding her car keys. Ester reached into the victim's pockets and took her phone while the other robber held a gun to her head. The robbers then fled in the woman's vehicle. The car was found the next day, still occupied by Ester, who later confessed to the robbery.
Ester was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Stephen Folk-Cruthirds and Courtney Ray. He was represented by the Public Defenders office.
The case was docket No. 413317.
