Koryeon Vance found guilty of murder

Jurors in District Judge Chris Victory's court took 30 minutes to find Shreveporter Koryeon M. Vance, 21, guilty as-charged late Wednesday, June 10, 2026, of the November 7, 2023 slaying of Malik Henderson during an apparent drug deal.

The six-man, six-woman jury determined, after considering cell phone data that placed Vance at the scene and contained videos of him with marijuana and firearms after the slaying, as well as witness statements, that he had shot Henderson, 27. The victim's body was found by police cold and lifeless in a car near the 4800 block of McDaniel Drive, in the Hollywood Heights neighborhood. He had been shot once in the head. Investigation showed that Vance and Henderson had been communicating for months about regarding the purchase of marijuana. 

When Vance returns to Judge Victory's court for sentencing July 1, 2026, he faces a mandatory life prison term at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

Vance was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Victoria Washington and Courtney N. Ray. He was defended by Leslie Kelly.
