Whitehead pleads guilty to weapons charges

A Shreveport man arrested on weapons charges in late 2024 pleaded guilty in Caddo District Court Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Jzarmacio Whitehead, 34, pleaded guilty as charged to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal possession of a firearm before District Judge Chris Victory a day before he was scheduled to go on trial. He was sentenced to a total of seven years in prison -- five years for the possession of a weapon by a felon charge and two years for the illegal possession conviction, to be served consecutively.
On November 30, 2024, Shreveport Police initiated a traffic stop during which Whitehead, a backseat passenger, had an open container. When asked to exit the vehicle, he tried to flee but was Tasered after a brief struggle. A gun, later found to have been stolen, fell off of Whitehead, who then was arrested.
Whitehead was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Rachel Hughes and Victoria Washington. He was defended by Michael Enright.
